File sharing is the sharing of computer data or space in a network with various levels of access privileges. The term almost always means sharing files in a network, even if in a small local area network. It allows a number of people to use the same file(s) by some combination of being able to read or view it, write to or modify it, copy it, or print it. Typically, a file sharing system has one or more administrators. The user may have the same or different levels of access privilege depending on the file type or personal preference. It is not much different from having multiple users on the same computer, but with different passwords to limit access of information from one user to the next. |
